Installation and
Service Call Checklist
What a home heating/cooling tech should check

Your home’s heating and cooling system is a significant investment that will contribute to your comfort for many years. Protect that investment by having it regularly serviced by a knowledgeable, certified technician.

During a service call or annual inspection, ask if a technician:

1. Checked fresh air grilles and louvers

2. Inspected burners for rust, dirt, or signs of water

3. Checked vent pipe for signs of water, damaged or sagging pipe, or disconnected joints

4. Examined unit appearance for rust, dirt, signs of water, burnt or damaged wires, or damaged components

5. Ensured that blower access door is functioning properly

6. Ensured that blower access door provides a seal between the return air and the room where the furnace is installed

7. Checked attachment of the return air duct to provide an air seal to the unit

8. Observed operating performance to monitor proper operation of the unit and the vent system

9. Showed proof of certification

10. Suggested a regular maintenance schedule to preserve your investment.
